Hey everyone,

I am new to the smoking game and am looking to pick a smoker in the near future. I am having a hard time finding a lot of info on the Blaz'n Grillworks Gridiron but have liked what I've read thus far. The rec tec seems to have a pretty large following. My brother in law has been nudging me towards the Rec Tec as he has one and loves it. I have read a few posts around the net lately though of new rec tec units having a defect with the drip pan mount. It is welded in too high and rec tec has been telling customers to hammer it down or bend it some. I am not ok with that even if it is minor.

Both the GridIron and the Rec tec have similar controllers so does it really come down to American vs Chinese made? I need your input folks.

Thanks in advance!

I've got a Rec Tec and love it.  For what it's worth, RT is assembled and QC'd in the US.  No issues and very solid temps.  With that said, the Blazin is a wonderful grill - as is the Yoder (another American made).  I don't think you would go wrong with any of the 3.  I think the RT would be the cheapest at around 1000, the Blazin next and the Yoder at over 1500.
