Hey, I just picked up a used Brinkmann Pitmaster Deluxe Smoke 'N Pit for $40 off Craig's List. I have been wanting to try smoking some ribs and a turkey for a while now. I can't wait to try it out. A lot of great info here.

Anybody have any tips or tricks for this smoker? I know it is not the best thing out there, but I could not pass it up for $40.00.

Jeff

I do not use a brinkman, but I bet someone will be along soon that can help you out.

you did good for 40 bucks {gave 50 for mine}..there are many things you can do but it what works for you ...mine i just raised the charcoal pan to the highest setting so it acts like a baffle/tuning plate and cut a hole in the top grate to extend the stack into the chamber,, other than sealing the air leaks, darn near impossible, thats about all that mine has needed and you can check my threads on my smokes to see they do a nice job and i'm sure gypsyseagod can attest to them too.

P.S. Welcome to the Forum..get a napkin for some drool control you are gonna need it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome Jeff -

Good deal on the smoker! Anything that smokes is a good smoker, there's always a better one somewhere so just learn to smoke on what you got and if you love it - later you can always find another if you choose! ENjoy!

Welcome to SMF, Jeff! This is a great place to learn about smoking regardless of what smoker you're using. With the help of the folks around here you'll be surprised at how quickly you are putting things in that smoker that never occurred to you before.

Here is a picture of my $40 smoker. It just needs a fresh coat of paint.

That'll work! There are lots of folks here with that model. You might want to check the smoker mods section first and get it running right before your first smoke!
