I just recently got my DX and used it for the first time.  The Pit Probe comes with a clip that can clip onto the grate of a rack in the smoker.  Doesn't this affect the temperature reading when you are clipping a metal clip to a steel grate in the smoker?  The DX seemed to work flawlessly on our first smoke with it!  Won't do another smoke without it!  Thanks for the input.

No it doesn't affect the reading. I have the same setup & it's about as good as you can get.

Nope it works great with the clip.. Just remember keep the prob away from the meat and try to keep the prob in the center of the great as much as  you can..

Thanks for the reply guys.  We will have to move the clip to the center of the grate for the next smoke.  We did notice that we got it to close to the meat the first time we put the meat in, but caught the mistake before it got to out of hand!  Otherwise I sure like the ease of controlling temperature with it!

smokinginmn if you can't find room to put the prob in center put your meat prob in the meat than clip the prob  to the meat prob...

Look behind the wording in pic and your will see what i mean.. Hope this helps ya.
