Pulled pork 1st attempt!

  1. Looking forward to this for football this evening. Started at 4AM on peach wood before I left for work!!!! Currently sitting at 180 degrees!!!

    Looks like you'll "pull" it off!

    The 180 degrees reference, is that the internal temp of the meat right now, or the pit temp?  I'm hoping it's the IT...
     
  3. Haha yeah my bad, that's IT for sure. Pit has been at 230!

    How are you monitoring temps while you are at work?
     
  5. I go in at 5am and I was home at 930 for my "lunch break" to check and ended my day at 1 this afternoon. Wifey was home to keep my updated on the IT. I use a MES30.

    I've done that before as well, but usually when one of my boys are in town.  I'll call every so often and ask what the temp is and have them make adjustments as needed.
     
  7. I also have to little ones running around so that's why I went with an electric unit. Lets me do the smoke thing while I chase them around!!!
     
  8. Little update, turned out really nice. Took out at 196. Temp probe was going in and out like butter.

    Yep, looks great!  Long cook for that stuff, but oh so worth it!
