I will be buying a torch in the near future to light my AMNPS.  I don't have a propane or butane torch, starting from scratch.  Which is better for lighting pellets?  Is one preferred over the other?  Thanks.  At my local big box hardware store (Menards), the propane self ignite torch kit is $15 and the butane self ignite torch kit is $25. I'm not concerned about the $10 difference, but ideally want the most efficient product. Was thinking of getting propane, just in case I'd ever need it for plumbing work.

Both will get the job done but Propane is cheaper, comes with larger tanks and has more uses that the small Butane Torch. The Jet Engine sound is Cool too!...

Chef JJ is right about propane being cheaper. And it is easier to find more fuel. You can buy the green bottles of coleman propane at the grocery store for just a few bucks.
