OK... so I have had it happen 3x now. I will be using the my 22.5 WSM and have the upper rack loaded. Then the upper rack will get shifted to one side or the other as far as it goes - usually from moving a pice of meat or something. Then the side with the most gap will try to flip the rack and dump everything onto the lower rack. Basically it's like the little metal tabs are just a tad to shor that the upper rack sits on.

I am thinking I might buy some longer 1/4-20 bolts and stack 2 washers between the body of the smoker and the metal rods with the tabs on them. I figure that should push the top tabs in approx. 1/8 of an inch or so. I don't think I need much, because if the rack is empty it wont try to flip, but if it has weight it will just barely push past the tab.

Anybody else run into this?

Nope - definatelty a defective piece of equipment. Pack it up and ship it to me so you won't be tempted to use it again.

OK - just joking, couldn't resist.

Stupid question, but are you using the rack without handles on the top? The rack without handles is slightly smaller. I didn't realize this until i tried to use the rack off my Weber kettle in the bottom of my WSM and it wouldn't fit. I had some chicken wings i was going to smoke on both racks and figured i'd use the kettle rack for the bottom and the rack with handles on the top. I figured i'd just lift the entire rack right out of the smoker and transfer them to a plate so i could minimize the time i had the lid off because i had more meat i was going to smoke after.

I'll be happy to ship it to you.... I believe shipping and handeling will come to right about $475.... lol.

No I do have the handle rack on top, and the non-handle rack on the bottom. So that isn't it, but good quetion though!
