Hi,
Smoking seems to be getting more popular here but I'm still the only one of my mates who is trying it. I bought a fairly simple homemade stainless steel smoker about a year ago. Basically, it's a box with a raised drip tray and a grill above for the grub. Works fine but a bit messy to use.
I really need to get something better and easier to use. I'm looking through the forum and will post some noob questions there.
Looking forward to getting involved here!

Howdy, Gobsheen!

Just finished watching a Rick Steves tour of Edinborough and came here to find a Scotsman just joined. Welcome !

Good luck on your search for the perfect smoker and the perfect smoked meal. Rest assured that you have a lot of company here.

Thanks guys!
I'm warming up for my first post (set of questions!) to try and pick smoker.

I'll have to look up this Rick Steves guy. I'm actually Irish but living in Scotland since 94.

Welcome indeed, Gobsheen! If someone here can't answer your questions, chances are the answer doesn't exist.

If you can't find a decent smoker for sale where you live (and I've heard from a friend in England that the manufactured ones can be expensive), look around the equipment forums at our home-made projects. They go from simple to very fancy. But all make very good BBQ.

Cheers,

Mike
