Hey Guys,

I am getting ready to preseason my MES and my Amaze-n-pellet smoker and I was considering doing them at the same time.  I've read the instructions for both and it left me with a question.  The instructions for the MES says to add a cup of wood chips.  Why is this step necessary?  My plan was to load and burn the Amaze-n-pellet smoker instead of adding wood chips to the MES.  Do you guys think that will properly preseason my MES or do I NEED to add wood chips directly into the MES. Thanks in advance.

Tight lines,

Matt

Thanks Martin.  I was going to season the AMPS without pellets first. According to directions ...  I was just trying to avoid using chips in the MES, because I was planning to get 100% of my smoke from the AMPS.  I was trying to figure out if that was possible.  Thanks again.

I did season mine at the same time and it worked fine.

I have never relied on the MES 40 for anything other than being a heated cabinet, and use the AMPS for the smoke.

No problems, and everyone loves the flavor.  Two great products!

I'm going to have to get the AMPS after reading so much great information about it on this site.

My new MES 40 directions didn't say to oil it for the seasoning so I just followed the factory directions. I made a boston butt last weekend on it for  the first time and it turned out great. Would seasoning it again with oil be of any benefit to me?

Can't wait to get the AMPS so I don't have to keep adding chips so much while smoking boston butts/shoulders because that over night smoking was a little bit of a headache!

All I do is spray PAM on the inside walls

Not 100% sure it's worth the extra effort
