Possible Scam on CL

  1. Was looking for a smoker on Craiglist Florida when I came across this ad and got very exicted.

It's a Meadow Creek TS 60 for $850. Just as I was going to buy it I decided to do a little research and found a complaint with the BBB. They are just scammers. I went to their Amazon storefront and they have nothing there also

Besides the above link they have another offering with a sweet trailer rig in front of a really nice house. They are posting that to. Wish I could find the link.

Rmemeber if its too good to be true.......it ain't. Or as David Bromberg said "beware brother beware"

    Here is what I found

April 17, 2013-The BBB serving Northeast Florida and The Southeast Atlantic has received multiple inquiries about a company calling itself Overstock Clearance Center. The company website, www.overstockclearancecenter.com claims to sell generators, fitness equipment and children’s play sets at deeply discounted prices. Inquirers state that they have responded to craigslist ads and then are directed to the company website. The website advertises that the company is a BBB Accredited Business and that they have an A+ rating with the BBB, both of which are untruths.

The company requires that payments to be made through Green Dot MoneyPak or Google checkout, which gives consumers no recourse in the case that no goods are received. There is no address listed on the website although they claim to ship from Brunswick, Georgia. When researching the website BBB found that they are registered as a domain by proxy out of Scranton, PA. BBB has been unable to locate contact information for the web hosting company.

BBB checked with the Georgia Secretary of State Corporations Division, the Glynn County Occupational Tax Coordinator, and the City of Brunswick Business License Division and came up with no licensing information for overstockclearnacecenter.com.

Based on the above information it is BBB’s conclusion that this is a complete fraud and that the company does not exist nor has it ever existed. Extreme caution is urged. If you feel you have been a victim of this scam you may wish to contact the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov

I have seen the add for the trailer rig at many different prices. Heard of one member that bought one, had to drive 4 hours to pick it up!, and could not get it up to temp. Poor customer service.

I saw the rig on craigs list for 900 dollars and almost ordered. Then looked up that members post and changed my mind!

I have seen it from 900 dollars to 2700 dollars. The same pic in all adds!

      Buyer beware!

  3. I called Heartland smokers ( one of the smokers on this web site and the owner of Heartland said it was a total scam. They contacted Craigs List and they  (CL) did nothing to shut down the advertiser.
