I am extremely new here, have been lurking but first time post. Anyway, being from midwest, I'm familiar with pork steaks and was wondering if anyone else here enjoys them. They are nothing more than a pork butt sliced into steaks normally 3/4 to 1 inch thick, but when grilled and sauced there's not much that beats them.

I've just started smoking seriously and have taken all the hints of modifying my Brinkman side box smoker with good results, thanks to this site.

Welcome to SMF frank.

Never have tried the steaks . Usually we get the (country ribs) which is no more than a butt cut into long pieces to look like boneless ribs.

Also Welcome Frank to SMF. Now I have grilled the post steaks that you are talking about but they are just pork butt sliced up and you pay them really good to slice it to. So the next time your in the store look at the pork butt price per lb and then look and the country style ribs and pork steaks again and compare.  SURPRISE.........

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.

I love pork steaks. I like to grill them while basting with Jack Millers bbq sauce. then soon as they come off I like to cover them with the sauce and let sit covered for about 15 minutes or so. WOW you cant beat it. May have to do that for lunch

Welcome aboard!

I love pork steaks, too.  I've smoked them with Hickory and sauced them with Sweet Baby Ray's for the last 30 minutes.  Yummy!
