One of my cousins brought me a shoulder to smoke. She was laughing at me for taking pics of the progress, but wasn't laughing anymore when I started cutting it up...LOL.

The shoulder

Rubbed w/ Jeff's Rub and in the smoker

Sprayed w/ aj & JD
Pulled @ 170 & wrappin for it's rest

After 2 hours in the cooler

Tried to slice, but it was falling apart so I just chopped it up

she actually took this pic....no longer laughin....more like droolin!!

all chopped

Poured in all the juices from it's rest.....added alittle more JD (just because I could)

Da** good if I say so myself!!
Thanks for ckin out my Q!!

good work. just a thought, but maybe holding for 2 hours in the cooler brought them over 170. try not putting it in the cooler or pull it at 160, might be easier to slice then.

Looks good Gene

Sorry guys.....I forgot to mention - I cut off the skin and smoked it for the dog. LOL
Ya can barely see it on the top shelf.

Nice looking Q, it sure doesn't look like the slicing was too hard a chore.

I'm willing to bet real cash that you couldn't chop the whole thing up without trying a sample or two. I would have had it 1/2 eaten by the time it got to the plate.

I always tell my Wife that I have to make sure that its safe for others to eat.

PS I bet your dog loves you!!!!

GnuBee, ya got me laughin pretty good!!! Funny how the sliced or pulled meat ALWAYS weighs less than what it did whole. Kinda like the missing sock out of the drier. And the dog.....he eats better than I do. At 170, everyone brings him their leftovers.

Diesel....Keeps a closer eye on the smoker than I do!!

Man that looks good. You could have thrown me the skin you smoked for the dog. I bet that was good. Just joking, looks great though.

Gene - nice looking shoulder you did for your friend. I've not done one before but looks like one may be in my future!

When you mentioned cutting off the skin, did you do that prior to applying the rub?
