Hey everyone,

Need some advice. Next weekend I am having my wife and I's baby shower here and I'm planning on doing pork shoulder. I've done one before but it was small, I'm planning on doing close to 10lbs when its all said and done.

I have been trying to do research as this is the first really long smoke I've done. Some say 1.5-2 hours per pound @225, others say  the same per pound but @250.

I just don't want to go less hot and have it not be done, or go too hot and it gets overdone.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks everyone,

Zach

I would plan for 2 hrs per pound if you don't wrap it. I'm not sure how much time you will save wrapping it but I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a good guess. Keep in mind if it gets done early you can wrap it in foil then pack it in a cooler with towels and it will stay hot for several hours. Main point would be give yourself plenty of time and good luck.

It's a party. Get it done a day ahead then you don't have to sweat the timing. Reheat in a Crock Pot or covered in a 325 Oven and you can rest easy. In any event at 225-250, I plan on 2 hours per Lb and add 2 hours to CYA for stall and unforseen. If you are early, foil, towels and a cooler will hold hot 5 hours easy...JJ
