1:25 am just put a 8.5# butt on the ECB.. rubbed with jeffs rub with some ground lemon peel, smells awesome.. the temp here is 38 with a very light wind.. the smoke will be hickory to start and apple for the remainder.

I got it started early for ,plateau anticipation, this way it will be ready when the wife comes home from work at 3 pm if it's done early i will put it into the cooler wrappped in an old quilt so should be a good smoke...also got a couple of fatties to go on at dawn, man my stomachs gurgling now, anyways heres the butt ready to put on

It always amazes me at the different times you get when doing a butt. I did a 8 1/2 lb butt while back in my R2D2 and it took only seven hours. A 5 lb one in my GOSM took 9 hours. Of course it was probably 85º outside and no snow.

temps here hovered at 36-37 degrees plus i got about a 2-3 hour nap and when i woke up my grate temp was only 150 and the butt was 147 so i had to get things fired back up,, oh well it was my first true all nighter, between the butt on the ECB and the grandsons butt and stomach i was busy..

did get a nice suprise though today the daughter went to wally world and asked if i needed anything and i jokingly said a brisket and lo and behold she brought home a 11# full packer,YIPPEE. now i have not done a good brisket yet but i feel this one will go the distance because it's going on the smoker when i get home from work on wed. and cook all night then in the morning i can throw on the turkey and pork loins too man can't wait for thanxgiving
