Hey guys I plan on smoking a pork butt this weekend I have a good rub Im gonna use to marinate it for 24 hours. any tips or ideas on temps and how long? I use the chargriller with side fire box I was thinking 8-10 hours right around 235 240? is that a good temp area to keep my pit? Let me know guys will take all the ideas I can as this is my first pork butt thanks

Temp looks good, I try to stay in the range of 225-250, but the time it takes depends on the butt itself. You want to go by the internal temperature to know when it's done so it helps to have a remote thermometer.
For pulled pork 200-205 internal temp works great or till the bone pulls out clean (if it has one)

What Dan said about going by temp and not time is right on.  Depending on what size butt you have and if you foil it or not, it could take anywhere from 10-18 hours to smoke a butt. They all cook differently. That is why you have to go by the internal temp and not time.

thanks guys for all the tips i appriciate it  i have a digital thermometer i use. thanks for the internal temp tip cause i plan on making pulled pork.

Now it sounds like theses guy have given you some good advice. The only thing that I can add is allow yourself planty of time for a butt can hang out in a cooler for many many hours. So enjoy and don't forget the Q-view.
