How long will a pork butt stay warm wrapped in foil and a towel placed in a cooler?

I would like to pull just before serving.

A single Butt will hold about 5-6 hours as long as you use a smallish cooler. No 100Qt coolers here.

Thanks Chef Jimmy J,

I started this butt around 6 last night and its currently at 199 degrees, it's been hanging there for an hour, the smoker's running at 240 degrees now. I was planning to pull at 5:30. so I should be ok time wise.

Thanks again.

Rick

It came out very well, 5.5 hours  wrapped and in the cooler. It was very warm yet, and easy to pull. I don't think I would let it rest any longer. But it didn't need reheated so I was happy with the result. This was the 5th butt and every other time I had to delay eating, so I was experimenting on how to have it cooked earlier, then pull just before eating. Next time I'm going to shoot for about a 2.5 to 3 hour window. This smoke took around 17 hours which seems to be the norm for me. 15 to 18 hours on all the butts I've cooked, all were 7.5 -9 pond butts. I bought an 18.5 Webber Smokey Mountain Cooker about a year ago, and haven't had any missteps yet. Haven't tried beef yet. It's been fun even with the lack of good sleep on the overnight smokes.
