Hi there - I'm fairly new to smoking. Or should I say "we". In reality my husband does most of the smoking, I do the research about how much wood, how long, that type of thing. We bought a Smokin-It #1 almost two years ago and we've smoked lots of things, chickens, briskets, and racks of ribs, home-made bacon. Now we're interested in smoking other things like nuts and cheeses.
I came here and lurked and read a lot about smokers before we purchased - but there wasn't much about the Smokin-It then. Back then I worked with someone who knew someone....(you get the idea) - but I was able to pick up my #1 at such a good price that I had to do it, I didn't even have to pay shipping, my co-worker went to the guys warehouse and picked it up for me. I'm really glad I did - it's been super solid for us. It was great for a couple of newbies who can't manage to keep a charcoal grill lit long enough to make hamburgers.
Oh yeah - we're in Northeastern Ohio.
Hope to get some great tips here. I'll be attempting almonds this weekend.
