I’ve been wanting to make this for a long time so this was the day. I used store bought, didn’t realize I had eaten my last bag of bacon. I did these in the roaster oven. I used a mixture of  75% turninado sugar and 25% rub. I covered one side very liberal and started at 200° for 1 hour, then took a paper towel and soaked up some of the grease. Then I coated again cranked it up to 350 ° and kept adding until I had a good coat and the bacon was crisp. I’m not a big fan of sweets but these are stinkin good. I can’t wait to try it with homemade bacon. Enjoy

    gsdressler , mornin'

Can dark brown sugar be substituted for the turninado sugar? I have never seen it in any if the grocers around here. It seems there are allot of items that are not available here, that are readily available in the USA

Sure you can sub........can you find demerara (florida crystals) or piloncillo (mexican cane in a hard packed cone shape) ???

Both are healthier than white or brown and have a unique flavor that processed sugars do not have...the piloncillo is somewhat difficult to use because it has to be grated to separate from the cone.
