Picnic shoulder...first time..

    Went to the store yesterday, no pork butts to be had! So I picked up a picnic shoulder. On the smoker since about 5 am. Anyone have any experience with it? How does it pull?

    Thanks. Mine has the bone in, not the roast version. Yours looks good, hopefully mine will turn out the same way.

    They work great for pulling. Butt's have rarely been on sale around here but shoulders go on sale for .99/lb about once a month. So that's what i use mostly.

    Just fine. Bring the temp up to 200 and it will pull perfectly, Below 200 and it's fine for slicing.
