Being new here and using the search function, I noticed that folks have sealed up their smokers using several different types of sealant. I have a question to those that have used Permatex Ultra Copper.  How did that work out for you?  Did the seal last?  Did you have any problems with the fumes as the sealant kind of seasoned?  Are there any regrets?

I haven't used ultra copper, but I did use some 700° rated clear silicone to adhere some stove rope to the lid of my old el cheapo offset smoker. It worked quite well.

Thanks for the reply.  I went ahead and used the ultra copper when I assembled the smoker.  Not on the doors.  I haven't cooked yet, but I have done three burns to make mods and have noticed no leaks.
