I heard from few places that these are going to eventually dethrone traditional smokers wich burn wood, lump and briquettes. I was little suprised for this, i really dont believe this, but is there a bit of truth in it ? Everybody seems to be very happy with the pellet smokers, easy to use and keeps temp just right.

I would like to hear if you or a friend has changed traditional smoker to a pellet smoker and what was the outcome.

I am and will be a stick burner until the day I die! a lot of bbq restaurants here in west texas use electric smokers for convenience, to use wood sparingly (a big deal in west texas) or just to improve efficiency. I personally believe there will always be old fashioned bbq joins especially in Central texas, east texas. N.C. S.C. Georgia will also have them (although they will never be as good as texas bbq) I do believe there will always be a good mix of gas, electric, wood bbq restaurants that use one or even a combination of both. If I ever open one up in my town rest assured my smokers will be rolling smoke 24 hours a day!
