Hey everyone,

I have been lurking for a while but finally decided to post. I got my first smoker about 5 or 6 years ago. Charcoal Brinkman gourmet. Used it heavilly with my roommates at the time but when I got my house havent used it much. I had left it with my neighbor who had kept putting it to good use.

Fiance claimed she didnt like pork... (but eats bacon- and chinese ribs) and I was getting used to my propane grill for get togethers.

Last week or so I got the craving for some good smoked meat and Sunday I did a pulled pork. Turned out great and the fiance ate it, then asked for more, and a few days later asked when I was cooking it again... ( i was happy with the results but need to tweek my finishing sauce... Lacked depth, should have been spicier)

Then for my B-Day she bought me the perfect flame LP verticle from lowes.. She knew i was thinking about getting a new smoker. I Just got finished putting it together and will be seasoning tomorrow... thinking about ribs for Monday dinner...

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new smoker. Looks like you have a pork convert on your hands.

First welcome to SMF and congrats on the new smoker. You'll like it here the guys and girls like to share advice and recipes too.

Bassman: Since we started dating her eating experiences have grown tremendously... She is still a picky eater-- but is more willing to at least try a bite of something new or different... I pretty much eat anything (if properly prepared- cooked or not)

In 5 years of dating she has tried and enjoyed venison, grouse, pheasant, turkey, duck, lobster, scallops and now pulled pork. She appreciates what meat Cooked to safe Temp REALLY tastes like... That was a battle over chicken and steak at first..
She has tried kangaroo (suprised she even tried a bite!) but refused wild boar... so we are making progress!

Welcome NBBD, no doubt you are going to love this site. Seems like you got a good handle on the smoke, can't wait to see some Qviews.

"there is nothing that compares to spending the day hunting with a well trained bird dog."

Agreed, but there is one thing better: spending a day hunting with a good dog, then coming home to a good PA girl who likes smoked meat.
