Referring to where you store your smoker when it is not in use? I normally keep my Weber grill in the garage and roll it out when needed. We have a cool brick built-in BBQ off the patio that would be an awesome location for my smoker when it gets here. The problem with it is this location is across some grass that would make it hard to roll there for each use. I was wondering with a cover how well smokers hold up staying out in the elements.

That might depend on where you live. I live in So. Cal. and all I do is use the cover I bought from Amazon, I do coat the cover with Armorall, The GOSM stays outside 24/7. The Brinkman has a heavy duty trash bag for a cover, and the Weber has a good cover from Amazon.

The griller has a cover and stays out, but I'm afraid I haven't gotten a cover for the smoker yet. But, since I got it used and already rusty, and have since cleaned it up and used dutch's method of "seasoning" the metal, it doesn't rust sitting out in the rain as long as I re-coat it once every smoke.

All my grills and smoker are outside 24/7 with only the Weber gas grill having a cover that I forget to put back on 1/2 of the time. Weber Kettle I got in the early 80's and never covered and still looks pretty good. GOSM never cover in 3 years but starting to look it.

My two little smoker go in the garage, because they're easy to move. But the MES and the weber grill stay outside. One of these days I'll get a cover for them, but they are under a coved porch, so it's not too bad even in the torrential rains that we get here.

If I had my way they would be inside, but seeing how I live in a little one bedroom apt. it's either the smoker or the wife HHhmmmmm.

I keep both mine in the garage.....Don't feel like digging them out of the snow everytime I want to use them and they are fairly small.
