The FEC PG500 pellet grill can hit 900+ at the grate, plenty hot enough for my use
That would work.  The manufacturers say 600, is the 900 with the GrillGrates?  Or is it just under reported?  Maybe directly over the flame?  I often overlook the FEC PG500, but it's not much more expensive than a Yoder, still beyond my price range.  The highest price grills that I generally think about are the RecTec and the Yoder.

I'm not 100% sure about the 900 I haven't been brave enough to try it. Lol yea I'm completely torn again right now on what to get. I've always wanted a yoder but can't find one around my area to even get my eyes on.

I love my GMG DB and not at all disappointed in 5+ years. If you go tHE GMG route make sure you get the latest model with the SS direct flame drip pan, that feature itself is great.

That is at on the grill above the flame in zone 1. The 600 is at the temp sensor in the middle back of the grill. My IR therm at 700. The pelletheads review topped out above 900 but don't remember exactly where above 900

Jeep I see you in Denver. Are there any good dealers in your area. I was in Fort Collins today. They were acting like I was trying to buy their children.

I got my pg500 from herehttp://rockymountainstove.com/pellet-grills-smokers.aspx though not seeing them on the site right now. The were good to work with. I figured out what I wanted, and they were the only one in the area with then. I was planning on ordering it online but wanted to see it in person first. Went to look at it and told them what I was looking at to get it from an online dealer delivered. They bet the price by 100, include an additional 40 lbs of pellets from the online deal, and delivered it and set it up on my deck.

It is the only time I have been in the place, but I was more than satisfied.

Ace Hardware in Higlands Ranch has BGEs and trager pellet grills, and several gas and wood set ups. Prices seem decent but haven't checked real close. I do usually get pellets from them.

I went to spa world, Ace, and the water shed they have GMG. I fully planned on coming home today with a wifi GMG but the guy at spa world acted like I was invisible. I'm planning on going to Denver this weekend if I don't go fishing. There is a dealer there that carries Yoder. Maybe I'll end up coming home with it.

So I think I've decided on the GMG Davie Crockett. I have a few toys I can use I don't think I need a bigger unit. The smaller Davie Crockett would be perfect when out late night fishing for catfish, plus who doesn't want to throw some food on low and slow cook while waiting for the fish to bite. Kind of a win win if you ask me.

Got the little guy. Pic of the initial burn. Got it to 520 and it held that temp for a good hour. Plan to throw chicken legs in tonight, I'll post pics

I watched the video on that one, I like that it will run off of 12v. We got a new camper late last year and I don't like the cheezy grill that came with it. I'm not sure I want to smoke at camp, but it sure would be cool to have that option.

Tim i just took it with me fishing. I grill burgers on it. Ill post pics when i get back to the house. This is a very versatile unit. It will hold high temp well. My uncles that were with me doubted but are believers now.
