Hello!
I am a new member to this site and wanted to say I am impressed with the amount of wisdom in the forums on this site regarding the advice on the smoker builds. While researching reverse flow smokers for my own build, I happened across this site and started reading through all the threads pertaining to what I hope to accomplish with my own project. So without even posting a question yet, I would like to thank all of the members for imparting their experience on these forums so that others may benefit in building successful smokers without the heavy financial toll of trial and error.
Now, to introduce myself....I am a mechanic in a factory in Missouri. I work between 60-72 hours a week to make ends meet, have a wife and two kids, and I balance my "me" time between riding my Harley and getting really obnoxious with my humble charcoal grill and make anything/everything that I can afford to cook and drink some beer. In about six hours I plan to start on my reverse flow smoker build and I'm so amped up about it that I can't sleep (too many ideas rolling around). A few weeks ago I bought a 275 gallon fuel oil tank grill project from the family of a local man that started the project but passed away before it really took off. I also bought an abandoned project trailer to mount this behemoth upon. I have used the numerous equations to predict how much steel I will need for the firebox, and used the forums to gain invaluable insight on what I really hope to accomplish with this project. I'm sure I will eventually swallow my pride and ask for advice on here in a separate thread, but when I do I will include pics of what I am working with and my plans/dimensions for the components. I look forward to posting my progress and am open to advice or tips on how to make this project efficient financially and functionally.
