  1. greetings!

My background in competitive BBQ began in the NW a few years ago and our team has done well in competitions with the following smokers: GMG Daniel Boone Pellet, Weber Smokey Mtn Cooker, and an older off-set Brinkmann. I'm hoping to take us to the next level by building our own smoker.

My skill is in cooking more than fabrication so I'm hoping to swap tips or be helpful to newer cooks while I take the plunge into building my own reverse-flow smoker and leverage the skills and expertise of the RF build forum.

A buddy of mine and I are taking a MIG welding class and we're expecting to mod the Brinkmann as practice, build a patio smoker to specs inspired on this forum, and then see if we have the skills and talent to put a larger one together.

    At least, that's the plan.

Welcome. It is great to have another experienced member. I just started smoking last fall and had limited success until I found this forum. I have learned so much from the kind members. They are generous with answers to your questions and there are a ton of great ideas in the postings. One of the ways I learned the most was posting my projects with pictures and I always got support, advice and suggestions for differing ways to do things.

I hope you will post some of your projects with pictures so I can learn from your experience,

I am sure you will love this forum as much as I do.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
