I can get 12ft , 3/8" round for right at 8 bucks a piece, I'll need 17 of them for my racks, probably just get 18 just in case.

Still cheaper than going with 3/4" x 9 expanded stainless, And I've found that the stainless expanded metal warps easier than mild steel expanded when heated up, but the round stock holds shape very well.

Isn't this crazy? I was doing some cleaning in the garage this morning in shorts and a t-shirt. Was 75 degrees at 8 am. By noon its pouring rain and 45 degrees! Good things I told the wife Sunday was hers so I could have Saturday to work ;) Wasn't a complete loss this weekend

Pull you chair up close to the smoker, kick your shoes off and let the firebox heat keep your feet nice and toasty and enjoy the fact that your beer is ice cold!

Never made the 32   stayed about 25 all day, supposed to be back in the 70's by Thursday or Friday

Dang Gary, that's quite a dusting for your parts! The funny thing is I've actually cut my lawn before with that much snow on it, no joke. But you're lucky though because at least you can see your lawn right now. I haven't seen mine since early December, which is unheard of for Metro Detroit. Sure we get lots of cold and snow every year, but occasionally we'll get a couple 40 degree days throughout the winter to melt everything. That never happened this year. Alsoas of yesterday the Great Lakes are 90% frozen over. (The record is 94% set in 1979).

That was mostly sleet that accumulated just a little bit of snow. Everything was iced up. To give you and idea how unprepared we are for stuff like that, Dallas is about 100 miles from Tyler usually less than a 2 hour drive. Yesterday morning it was taking 10+ hours to make that trip and by afternoon had it down to 4 or 5, it's all melting today, maybe things will get back to normal.

If I liked snow and ice I would move up north

So , really given the rotisserie a lot of thought and have decided to go for it. Going with a 60" spit, 5/8" hexagon dia.

Think this is something I'd use a lot, if I take the time to make it work right!

Ferris Wheel type or rod through the meat..... I sure like RubbinButts design...

I'll build it capable so if the opportunity comes up. But more than likely just chicken and butts!

I'd like to try cutting the butts into soft ball size chunks , let them sit overnight in my wet rub, and then stuff them into roast netting and stick them on the split. Think it may reduce cooking time and produce less " white/ grey meat with more surface area exposed to the smoke and seasoning ...? Maybe?
