Bout ready to foil the ribs and I forgot to pickup some apple juice at the jam packed Wall mart this morning. Not going out again so it's time to try something new. I have some blackberry juice in the pantry. Guess I'll give it a try. May dilute it 1/10 or 1/5 with water. May add a bit of honey to it.

Or you could just use seasoned water if you don't want to use blackberry juice. You could make up a batch of your rub, throw it into a little water or something, or even dilute a little bit of cider vinegar in it as well.

Good suggestions all,

Think I'll dilute the blackberry juice with beer and add a bit of rub. I am usingvinegar in the sauce at the end so I'm going to wait on adding it now.

Thanks,

Al

yep - the world will not end if there's no apple jiice in the house. lots of people also use pan drippings or whatever they were mopping with. just about any liquid will be fine, if you are foiling ribs - there are even a few who add no liquid at all and report fine results.

you're only limited by your imagination! congratulations on thinking outside the apple-juice box!

I made ribs for my brother before he was deployed and forgot the applejuice myself but I had a half gallon of fruit punch in the refrigerator so I thought what the heck. I have not used apple juice since

I got desperate one weekend and drained the juice out of a jar of Marichino Cherries and used it a s a spritz. It was great.

Yall got me eyeing that big jug of Hawian Punch in the fridge.

bigdale: Those would be quite the cherry's for a party!

Canned goods to the rescue! It pays to have a cache of shelf-stable essentials for various reasons, and this is just another one. My pineapple juice comes in cans, and I'm sure apple does too. I'm going to start keeping a couple cans on hand for just such a smoking emergency.

Of course, a six-pack in the fridge will generally solve any cooking liquid issues that come up.

there are so many other things to use....just some butter and brown sugar would have been great..or pineapple juice, beer, jelly, ect...Pork takes to sO much stuff.
