Got my MES 40" seasoned and my AMNPS ready. I'm documenting everything and hoping to report on all the things I'm doing wrong to help others.

So far I learned that the AMNPS burns fine if you pull the chip loader all the way out and remove it and pull the chip tray up 2". I had a fairly successful first smoke, I got impatient and pulled the meat too early... but other than that, no problems!

Oh yeah, no problems here just yet. I've been lurking quietly without making an account, but now that I am here I wanted to say hi.  :)

  3. Hello and welcome from East Texas. My youngest son has the same problem, wants to hurry it up.

Welcome. Sounds like you are off to a good start. I have the MES40 also. It seems each MES is unique to itself...some people get good smoke from the AMNPS by just pulling the chip loader out an inch or so (like me), while others need to pull it further out or remove it altogether. The key is to just learn the quirks of your own unit, and learn with each smoke.  There is an MES group with lots of good info, in case you are interested in joining.

Oh wow, where's the link to the MES group? Sorry, I'm new here and couldn't find anything in search...
