I've been smoking for just under a year after finally getting my wife to let me start. Now she can't stand places like "Woody's"
Using a Brinkmann Smoke 'n Pit
Currently living in Dayton, OH

My recommendation to newbies is don't start your first smoke with a 21 lb brisket.
 
Welcome to the SMF! I totally agree with your recommendation. I didn't do that but after smoking a few, I understand your thoughts.

21 lb brisket, I've been smoking a while and the biggest i've done is the one i did yesterday . Lil over 12lbs.
BTW , Welcome to the site and hopefully you will get as much from it as i have.
 
Welcome to SMF. Sorry to hear about your bad experience with your brisket. The good news is that there are a lot of great people here to help with your next one. Don't let this one time sour what could be some great meals in the future. We are here to help. Just ask.
 
First off welcome to SMF. It sounds like you are well on your way to be an outstanding new member of this fine site. You'll like it here cause there are abunch of good folks here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking. We really like to have newbies here because they can bring in a new propective to how things are done. There's nothing like a new set of eyes to give and new way to make things that little differant to make things alittle better. So I hope you know about the Qview here.

It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.
