Hello all!

Since I've already started posting for help, I guess I should introduce myself.  I'm Michael.  I'm an IT guy from the US - Southern Indiana.  I'm a bachelor who LOVES good food.  I have a 4 month old Akita puppy who keeps me young and gives me gray hair, all at the same time!  LOL  I've been grilling for 35 years plus, first on various cheapo gas grills and for the last 10 years on a Weber One Touch Platinum.   I never thought I'd get into smoking, as I'm a "I want it NOW" kinda guy.  But I have to say, the results are worth the wait.  Guess I'm mellowing out in my old age...

I just bought a Masterbuilt 30" Digital Electric Smokehouse.  I used it last weekend to smoke 2 Boston Butts.  They were delicious - beginner's luck, I guess. I have a whole pork loin on the smoker as I type this.  I plan to smoke about 15# of spare ribs tomorrow.

I look froward to getting to know y'all and learn the intricacies of smoking meat from all of you and sharing my experiences as well.

Welcome.  I'm an IT guy also.  I joined about 3 weeks ago and I am hooked.

I have just 2 pieces of advice.  Use the search engine.  There is so much info already out there and everyone on the site that I've encounter have been very friendly and always willing to help.  Being an IT guy you will be very comfortable with the search engine.  There is so much info already out there. Plus everyone that I've met have been so generous with helping.

The second thing I will mention is the folks here love to see someone elses smoke so document your smokes with pictures and comments in a thread when you can.

Welcome again and have fun.

Welcome to the forum!   I got family down in Dubois Co area..beautiful country imo.        Lots of good info on here for sure.  Try butts in the OT indirect, they'll be even better than in the electric.

Thanks!  Nowhere else in the world I'd rather live than southern IN.  I'll give butts on the Weber a try.  But they'll have to go a ways to be better than the one's I smoked last week.
