No wrap spares

    first time with the no wrap method. Just doing a half rack, but seem really meaty. I do have a question though. Since I'm doing a half rack, will the bend test still work? Saw someone mention a toothpick test, is that similar to a brisket?

    Bend test should still work.  That is a nice thick cut.  And yes you can toothpick it similar to a brisket.

    Thanks NoBoundaries.

    Been in for 2 hrs 15 minutes so far and the TBS is looking good. Hoping to not open to peak for 4 hours, at which time I will spray it with apple juice and Captain Morgan mixture.

    4 hours in and gave them a good spray of 4 parts apple juice, 1 part Captain.

    Keep her closed up from here on out......If you are smoking @ 225 it should be done around 5.5-6 hours. I had 2 racks of spares on yesterday. The skinnier one was done in 5 hours and the thicker one was done in 6.

    Those are looking mighty good so far. Keep up the good work. Since you're not going to open the door back up maybe you can treat yourself to one part apple juice and four parts Captain 😉

    thanks Damon, been opening for a quick spray ever 45 min. Was going to do it one more time in 15 minutes.

    6 hours on the nose. Wow, took me and wifey about 6 minutes to eat most of them.

    When I made the first cut, they sprayed me... Super moist and the tiniest amount of tug.

    Best ribs that I have made, by far. May go no wrap on ribs from now on. Hade a nice crispy shell on the outside and super moist inside.

    wow...meaty slab of goodness there.....looks swell and I had to chuckle about how you & wifey knocked it off....when it's that good you just don't wanna stop....good job.....Willie

    Awesome! I used to go no wrap but switched to 3-2-1 a few years back. I need to do both and try the taste test...those do look nice
