Long time Homebrewer but new smoker here.  Picked up a WSM and fired it up today to go thru the paces.  Found a ton of info here to make my purchase and want to thank you all for that.  First smoke either Wed or Thurs but going to be a blast!  Buddy in LV told me about his WSM and I didn't believe it.  Now I just need to teach him beer!

Cheers!!!

Thanks for the Welcome. Now with a few questions:

Can I smoke both a Turkey and a Brisket at the same time?

Should I? Or split into 2 sessions?

How should I arrange them?

Read through day 1 of the eCourse.  The search feature is awesome and I think I found what I was looking for after about 5min.

Welcome to the SMF Family....Plenty to learn here and lots of people to help...JJ

Forgot to open the vents on the bottom, so had to light another chimney to get temp up to 225.  Not bad IMO since it was 3am.  Turkey was 155F at the 4hr mark and was removed at 6hrs @ 167F. Brisket was wrapped in foil and put back on for 2 more hrs.  Tasted fantastic!  Thanks for all the info!!!

Hi! New to this site and to smoking - meat that is. Don't have a smoker yet but have been able to simulate process with an infrared fryer (Weber). Thinking about opening a snack shack here at the lake this summer.

First off welcome to SMF. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke. Now you have some fine smokes under your belt so far.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

I suggest you take the 5 day e-course on smoking http://www.smoking-meat.com/smoking-basics-ecourse.html

Even if you are not new to smoking it's a great read.

I have the WSM I use at my camper to tantilize the neighbors with TBS, Im sure you will love it. If you haven't allready read up on the mods for the WSM. Here's a link for some mods from another site. http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/tipsfaq.html
