Well, I was referred here by a friend from another forum, (car hobby) and have lots to learn.

I have learned so much from Craig already.  I have only done one thing in my new smoker, a turkey.

My wife and I have decided that after 50 years of turkey we didn't like it.  the kids insisted we stray from our traditional beef ribs and have turkey for Thanksgiving.  I bought a Masterbuilt 30" digital electric smoker from Walmart for $150 and smoked my first turkey.  I was damaged out of the box, but it got here the day before so we used it.  I called them and they took it back and sent another one.  It was damaged worse out of the box and now I am dealing with that.

I have been lurking around here for the last couple days and it seems like a great place for my new hobby. So thanks for having me.

I have no idea why I didn't take this up sooner....I guess I was just ignorant.

Anyway, I am a foody, like to fish and hunt, and am a gear head.  I live a stones throw from the North end of Zion National Park, (Kolob) and just love it here.  Except the beach is too far away and since I love deep sea fishing, I just can't get there often enough.  Anyway, I can't wait to smoke some fresh caught trout!

Thanks again,

Mel

Mel,
You're not a Vintage Mustang lover, are you? Even if so....welcome

Welcome to the forums Mel!  You've found the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks here who really enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input here, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.

Smoking grows on you. The more you smoke the easier it gets and more friends show up. At our house, for years we don't cook much inside almost everything is grilled or smoked.
