howdy all found this site looking for some good smoked bratt recipes. love cooking on the grill. im from texas where i grew up w all kinds of grilling and smoking

. live in an apartment and only have a cheap but good uniflame charcoal griller. already met a few of you in the chat room and they were very nice. looking forward to sharing recipes an ideas. thanx for building such a great web site.

welcome bro from another displaced texan. get yer coals to 1 side a low heat & add a couple @ a time maybe a wood chunk here & there & watch yer bratts while yer watching the "BOYS" & THE HORNS... welcome to smf.
 
Welcome to SMF! I had pictured a simple "tuning plate" mod that allows a charcoal grill to act a bit more like a smoker. Using a steel plate, or thick ceramic ones, divide your grill up to 1/3 heat, 2/3 smoking area by separating a small "firebox" side with the plate. The plate may have to be slotted to slide thru the grilling surface, or you could cut the grill to allow the plate to go thru it. The plate should extend almost to the top of the closed grill lid. If ya like, I could either find the pix I made, or come up with new ones...
