Hello all!! Im From the the Burbs of Chicago, I have decided to dive into smoking.I never done it, always wanted too and now Iam going for it.With that said with no knowledge i have been doing my best to research my first smoker.  I came across your forums here and thought this would be the best feedback and knowledge I can get.I have my sites set on the weber smokey mountain 22, but I can not find a store in my area that physically has it on display for me too look at.  In your expeiences is this a good smoker to get for a first timer in that price range? should i stop trying to see it for myself and just order it? Whatever knowledge you can give me will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!  Its beer thirty now!

I highly recommend the 22.5" WSM for four reasons:  1) It has a small footprint. It doesn't take up any more space that a BBQ kettle since it's a cylindrical "bullet style" smoker. 2) Set it and forget it.  It allows overnight cooks without babysitting (aka get some sleep). 3) 1/3 the price of smokers that can hold the same amount of food. 4) large capacity allows two whole packer briskets, or several butts, or several racks of ribs, or a couple turkeys, or a couple hams, or any combination, etc, etc.  ...just pounds and pounds of great food.  ...and there are comp teams that win with them!

I couldn't find a local dealer within an hour either so I ordered off ebay and had it shipped to the front door.  It actually delivered one day later than estimated but that is the only negative experience I've had to date with this cooker.  It arrived in perfect condition and produced great food out-of-the-box.
