So guys/gals, first off, thanks for the great forum. I've been reading for a bit and love the environment and encouragement of the forum.
I've done some indirect cooking with ribs on my gas grill - with some smoke, but haven’t been able to “smoke” anything.
Anyway, I'm looking at buying a smoker. Money is a concern - not only about cost but about how frequently will I use it. I'm hoping one of the first few batches come out soooooo good that I have to smoke a lot and can upgrade, but for now need to stay under $200.
I've eliminated charcoal/wood burners as I just don't have the time to baby sit it constantly. Beer in hand or not, I will have to squeeze the smokes into a day of home maintenance type stuff so hoping to get where I can just check it every hour so. I do think it will take more attention than that the first few go abounds. (an ET-732 is on the way).
So I'm pretty sold on the idea of propane. Something along the lines of the Masterbuilt 30" and/or Master Forge double door. While I'm leaning towards the MF http://www.lowes.com/pd_190449-9539...rentURL=/pl__0__s?Ntt=master+forge&facetInfo=
Those are the only 2 in this space that I've been able to look at locally - the MF seems a bit "tighter" and has a much better wood and water tray. Not sure about the double doors as someone here said that on theirs it just lets more smoke out.
Is there something else I should be considering – or am I on the right track?
Thanks guys, looking forward to posting my first Q-view!
