Hi everyone, I've been wanting and researching smokers now for about a year or so.  Just got my little 36" Smoke Hollow gas with a window and can hardly wait to use it. First I've got to season it, but after that, who knows what's in store.  I've gas grilled for ever but I've heard it is a whole different world "Smok'n".

I'm a 50 something female and live in beautiful Sedona, AZ, and my family and I love all kinds of meat and fish.  Can't wait to educate myself and try some of the recipes here at SMF..

Welcome to SMF!

Glad to have you with us!

You may want to start out with something easy & inexpensive. Like a chicken. There are hundreds of threads on smoking chicken. Just use the search box & start reading. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

We are all here to help!

Good luck!

Al

Thanks for the welcome, chicken is always a great choice...I'll give it a go later this week!!!

Welcome from SC. I love that "red rock country". There are lots of folks who are always eager to answer your questions and give their tips. Like Al said, I always suggest chicken as a good start. Check out some recipes for a spatchcocked chicken. I think it cooks more evenly and also cooks quicker.

How far is it from Sedona to Carefree? I don't remember, but I do remember the Horney Toad restaurant and the great fried chicken.

good luck, and good smokin', Joe

Hey Joe,

life is good here in Sedona, Carefree is about 103 + miles south of here. Never heard of the Horney Toad restaurant, wonder if they are still in business, Fried chicken is one of my ultimate favs...

Thanks for the advice on smok'n chicken recipies..I'll keep ya all posted when I get her up and smok'n.

Yeah, that's one of my silly traits. I was actually in Carefree and Sedona about 25 years ago. I'm sure nothing has changed, LOL.
