My name is Mike...live in southcentral Indiana in a pretty little locale close to Nashville, Indiana. I've been a gas griller much of my life, but now have an interest in smoking and improving quality of my food. I'm in the beginning stages of selecting a smoker. Leaning toward a WSM, but the Green Egg/Grill dome people are trying to pry cash out of my hands. Any advice would be much appreciated in this very beginning step.

Blessings!

Welcome, Mike! You are definitely about to improve the quality of your food whichever way you go. My brother used to swear by his Big Green Egg.  I went with a WSM because 1) I'm cheap, and 2) It has an outstanding reputation. Having owned the WSM for a number of years, I can vouch for the latter. You will definitely make great Q on the WSM. That said, the BGE can also be used as a high heat grill where the WSM can't. If you already have a gas grill (like me), then this probably won't matter for you.  Get the WSM. You won't regret it.
