Hello everyone!

i've been a fan of eating BBQ for years and finally decided to purchase a 30" Masterbuilt electric smoker and try to become a at home pit master

Hello, and welcome to the SMF Family!

Since you're new to smoking, and especially with a new rig:

Be sure to check the accuracy of your thermometers (meat probe and cabinet) as they can be off quite a bit. And, don't rely on thermostats/controllers to maintain the set temperature, until you prove it's accuracy as well. Water-boil checks are the best way to find accuracy for probes (you can then place your probe into the cabinet on the grate(s) you'll be cooking on to verify those temps in relation to the controller/cabinet temp reading). Here's a chart to determine the temp that water boils at your elevation: Boiling Point / Atmospheric Pressure / Altitude

Any questions come up, just shout.

Enjoy your time here on the forums!!!

Eric

ElectricSmoke,
Welcome, from southern Ohio, to the best forum on the internet if you are looking to learn how to BBQ/smoke/brine/cure/inject. Well you get the picture if you can do it to to something you put on a plate to eat then someone here has probably done it. Use the search bar at the top of the page and you will be led to the answer to most every question you can think of. If you don't find the answer there then just post it and someone will chime in with their opinion on the subject.

Eric has given you some sound advice about temp. and temp. control!

Always remember the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask!!
