My name is AJ and I'm a newbie from Az. I'm looking at getting an electric smoker possibly the smoke hollow 30in. Any thoughts? I love ribs and brisket. My favorite ribs are baby backs from Lucille's smokehouse. I'm new to the brisket world but I like Rudy's brisket. It's a chain that I believe started in Texas and has made a presence in Az.

Howdee AJ pleasure to meet you.

There is a product review section here that may make your choice easier. The search engine will no doubt also be a valuable assist in your research. That's sucker is fulla stuff. Jimmy Hoffa could be buried in there and be lost with all the info around him.

Most of the Guru's will be in bed by now on a Sunday night, they been hard at it all day helpin folks make delicious smoke. But by tomorrow you see a bunch of 'em here to help you acclimate to the boards. Guru's? They are the guys with either Moderator or OTBS (Order of the Thin Blue Smoke) tags by there name. But then again everyone will try and help you, just ask, Most of use enjoy helping cause we usually learn something in the process also.

I suggest if you are wanting to be the best and don't we all, Start a notebook, journal, cardex, something you can keep and dedicate to recording your smokes. That what you'll remember what you did, what you liked and what you didn't. You can research to make adjustments or talk to Guru's for advice or just start a discussion, we like to talk.

But better than talking we are all peepers, we like to see what you are doing and with all to days fancy phones and stuff, a picture is worth a gazillon text words. She was enjoy seeing your achievements cause they will usually inspire someone that sees them. I asked about pork belly yesterday and have three new dishes to try today. Pretty awesome huh?

Anyway, smoke is about relaxation, drinking a cold one, and getting that perfect smoke to bring happiness you your friends when they taste it. And no two will ever think the same way about the perfect smoke. its kinda like golf, its about arriving at the destination, you get there however you think best.

Nice to meet you, see yas tomorrow, have fun, enjoy the smoke,

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier.

If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Hello AJ, and welcome to the group!  You've found a great place to share ideas on our favorite pastimes...smoking and grilling great food!  There are plenty of friendly and knowledgeable people here who really enjoy helping one another.  Any time you need help, just ask and you'll get plenty!

I don't know much about that Smoke Hollow electric, but Foamheart gave you good advice...read up on different smoker reviews, browse through the electric smoker forum, and ask if you have specific questions about any particular rig.  There are lots of folks here who use electric rigs, so there is plenty of experience to draw from.

Good luck!
