Hello Everyone!
Jan here. I am really new at this. Have never smoked meat in my life. I am what you would call the brains behind the operation, my husband being the actual cook. He just doesn't like to read instructions and gives me that job. We have a new smoker, a Masterbuilt Electric Smoker. So far we haven't smoked anything, but i have a Boston butt in the frig that has been soaking up flavor for 24 hours now. We have done the initial curing of the smoker and are ready to go. I sure hope we don't ruin it as I dearly love pulled pork! One of my favorite foods, and the reason he got the smoker! I think he thought it would save money in the long run as buying precooked pulled pork by the pound gets expensive and is a gamble. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is tough. I have read lots of instructions, have it figured out that it takes a lot of time to smoke it. We have what we hope is a good thermometer as well as the build in one on the smoker and I will let you know how it turns out. I hope it is at least edible for our debut. I want to thank everyone for all the tips on here that I have read so far. Wish us luck!
