Greetings from Cold and Wet North Alabama!

I've been reading the forums for quite some time and assembling materials for a reverse flow build. I just bought a Weber kettle to do some interim smoking and since I have a couple of barrels I can also get some dual use from the top. I'm from the Carolina Q camp having grown up in Charleston, SC. I have an 8 1/2 pound butt in the kettle today and decided to join the forum since I'm getting close to starting the build. This is a wonderful forum with a WEALTH of great knowledge and some wonderful cooks with a great knowledge sharing spirit!

Thanks for all the past and future help,

Len

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! I am right next door to you in Madison!  I agree about the wet and cold!  I was at Whistle Stop all weekend and thought I was going to need webbed feet and a eskimo coat!

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/a/terms-of-service

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Thanks for the welcome Kat,

I read the terms of service and I enjoyed how Jeff made the Cliff Notes version!  LOL  I thought of going over to Whistle Stop but I decided to stay home and smoke a butt instead, they were on sale for 99 cents a pound and I couldn't resist staying home and warm.

Trust me....I think you made the best choice!  It started raining just after the Restless Heart Concert...and the temps dropped about 15 degrees in an hour. Was wet and chilly. The Pro area was in the parking lot areas and the Shade Trees were in the grassy ones....or should I call it a mud bog.  I felt sorry for them.

Glad to have some SMF folks here that are close by!  Hope to meet you soon! We do have an Alabama group here too.  Trying to get a meeting of sorts going sometime soon.

Hi Kat,

Just keep me posted on when you get a meeting pulled together, I would like to meet the local smoking gang! I doubt I will have my smoker built by then but I'm sure it would be a great time.

Thanks Kat,

I ended up adding photos to my profile and selecting them using that option. I think it is a glitch with Mozilla and java since I got a little java window but it never went to my files so I could make a selection. When I opened up the forum using Explorer it opened the browse files without a problem and let me load at will so I think I have it figured out for now. And yes, it was yummy, I bought some chicken thighs this weekend and I'm going to give them a try while I'm on a roll. LOL

Welcome Len.  Just a little further east of you over Chapman Mountain in New Market -- near Kat's old stompin grounds.  We thought about getting together and Sharon Johnson Park when it's a little drier.

Found an old High School bud this weekend at the Whistle Stop.  He owns an RV campground...and will give us a great deal.  Got the Business card to contact him too.  Will tell more in the group.
