Hey every!  Just wanted to introduce myself.  I have been wanting to smoke for some time now and finally got enough courage to go out and get a smoker.  Money only permitted me to pick up one of the cheaper smokers so I purchased a Master Forge from Lowes seems to be pretty good so far and I am excited to try many different smokes now that we are finally starting to get some nicer weather.  I look forward to hearing and reading everyone's input on this form as I have found it an incredible source of information.  :)

Thanks man! I am really excited I have been wanting to smoke for a long time and I finally am in a house and area where I can do it.  Previously I was in a townhouse which wasn't very good for someone who wanted to smoking for hours on end.

Welcome to SMF, Glad to have you with us.

This is the place to learn, lots of good info and helpful friendly Members.

Many of our members have years of experience in smoking meat.  They are more than happy helping Newbies learn the art.

We have members who cure there own Bacon, Hams, Jerky, Snack Sticks, Make Their own Sausage, etc. if you want to learn,
this is the place.

Don't be afraid to ask questions of them and follow their advice. You won't be sorry, you will be making great Q in no time at all...

Just remember, when curing your own meats follow the instructions included with the cure to the letter, this is not something to experiment with.

Never use more cure no mater if it is Tender Quick or Cure #1 or Cure #2 than the manufacturer says to use, this can be very dangerous.

Tender Quick and Cure#1 or Cure #2 are not interchangeable, neither Cure #1 interchangeable with Cure #2 or vise versa

You're in for a lot of fun.  There is more good info and advice here than you can imagine, and if you don't find what you need, just ask!  Doesn't matter what you pay for your rig, as long as you like what comes out of it!  If you have problems with temp or smoke, there will be lots of good help here for you.  It won't take long for your family and friends to get used to you taking pictures of your food before they can eat it.  WELCOME!!! and Cheers! Tony, Welcome. Lots of stuff to learn here. Enjoy the long smokey ride, from the dry side of the state. Dave

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!  I am starting to plan my next smoke this weekend provided the weather is half way nice.  In WA state two nice weekends in a row is rare!  maybe I'll have to go get a cover or something for myself and the smoker to sit under.

Welcome to the forum! Glad to see another Pac. NWesterner

, make sure you get some sort of outdoor covered patio or gazebo or something, otherwise you will be limited to about 3 months out of the year.... lol.

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.

Welcome aboard Tony.  Good to have another wetside smoker in the neighborhood to share the pain with and tips on how to smoke in the drizzling rain we like so well.  I actually do live about 88 miles north of you, assuming you live in the vicinity of the Seattle Center.  Lots of great people haunt these electronic hallways  of SMF.  I have one of those Master Forge smokers from Lowes.  Great little smoker.  Excellent jumping off point. And it's not too shabby a cold smoker either. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have.  Somebodies just likely to have an answer or can point you in the right direction.

Welcome Tony! The smokers on this forum don't let a little weather stop them. We'll find a way to smoke in the Wind, Rain, Hail or Snow. (Not me, their crazy!)
