I just purchased a great outdoors propane smoker from Walmart. I am looking forward to learning how to smoke brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and maybe even ham. I guess my next step is to do the 5 day course.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Anyone who has this smoker please give me your thoughts.

Thanks,

Mike

Welcome Mike. This forum will get you there. Follow some of the methods and you will produce great smokes right if the bat. Good luck.

Welcome tot he SMF. Plenty of folks using GOSM's, and they can help you with most any question that you have. All you have to do is ask... my friend.

Welcome also, its a great place to learn!!

Welcome from West Palm Beach, Next week I'll be liveing in Sebastian. This is a great place to learn and lots of GOSM users here, as well as myself. Any questions just fire away, you will always get an answer. Go season that cooker and jump in.

Ditto on the seasoning. I love my GOSM. I dont know how much experience you have with grilling or cooking in general, but if you do not have a digital probe thermometer you will definitely need one. Also, an oven thermometer is nice to have on the shelf that you are using to cook on. I do not rely on the thermomoeter in the door for my cooking temp. I would try a pork butt/shoulder or some ribs (or both, lol). Brisket can be challenging. Just make sure you read a lot about how others have smoked the different cuts of meat and you will be fine. The most important thing is practice and good tools. You already have a great smoker, so you are half way there. Dont be afraid to ask questions, everyone in here is so helpful and willing to answer any question.

Good Luck!
