I've been wanting to try smoking my own meats for several years now but just couldn't pull the trigger on buying a charcoal smoker (wanted a nice one- did a bunch of research).

Well... My wife bought me a Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5 for Christmas- and well, she created a MONSTER! I was at Lowes at 7am on the 26th to buy Stubbs All Natural Charcoal and Misquite Wood chunks. I smoked chicken drums and thighs and they came out AWESOME! I'm going to try whole chickens on New Years Eve. I want to try Baby Backs next...

I just bought a Maverick et732 dual probe thermometer and a thermoworks thermopop. Any other recommendations on additional accessories?

I signed up for Jeff's 5 day course and GREATLY appreciate any help from you, the professionals.

Thanks!

Great point! I thanked her with some restaurant quality chicken. Now, she wants ribs... I'm starting to wonder if the gift was totally for me... :yahoo:

Steve,
Welcome, from southern Ohio, to the best forum on the internet if you are looking to learn how to BBQ/smoke/brine/cure/inject. Well you get the picture if you can do it to something you put on a plate to eat then someone here has probably done it then smoked it.

Use the search bar at the top of the page and you will be led to the answer to most every question you can think of. If you don't find the answer there then just post it and someone will chime in with their opinion on the subject.

It’s a sad day when we look for ulterior motives behind presents we receive. Just accept the gift and enjoy, knowing that the wife bought herself a very nice present. LOL!!!

Always remember the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask!!
Keep Smokin!!!
