Hi, I'm not new to eating smoked foods, but I'm totally new to smoking. I am in the process of deciding what smoker to buy. I'm leaning towards a WSM or new ProBBQ Excel, but I do like the idea of an off-set. The only issue is that I would like to keep the cost below $300, so I can't afford the high quality off-sets like the Horizons.

I'm open to all suggestions and advice, since pretty much everyone on here has more experience than I do.

Welcome!! As you can probably see, there's a lot of us from Florida and quite a few of us in your area.

I bought a used Brinkmann SNP offset smoker out of the St. Pete Times for $50. I've seen them at Wal-Mart for $140, from what I can see, the WM SNP looks pretty good, but the steel seems a little thinner. I'm sure as long as you keep it clean and out of the rain it should last a long long time. Most all low budget off-set smokers need a little modifing, but there's a ton of into in the "Charcoal Smoker" area.

Happy Smoking, Solar

I found a used New Braunfels Black Diamond Barbecue Smoker on craigslist for $50, but it's in Apopka, and I can't make the drive to pick it up. If you are interested in shooting over there or know someone to pick it up for you let me know and I'll email you his/her info.

here's the ad http://orlando.craigslist.org/hsh/763903749.html

I would be all over this if it wasn't for the 1+ hour drive one way.
