Newbie from Pacific Northwest

Hi Everyone!

New smoker owner here, I got a Smokin Tex(electric) in June with the idea to be able to get proficient enough to complete a turkey for Thanksgiving. I am on track not to be disappointed but I will always take any advise as to how to better my ways.

I got an electric smoker because of the percieved idea that they require less babysitting than one that needs to have wood fed to it at intervals. Maybe that thought process will evolve as I improve this hobby.

This summer has been a summer of ribs - the food everyone here will eat at a drop of a hat - but have also smoked shrimp & salmon. I have not been impressed with any of the salmon done, so help is needed.

Looking forward to getting more information!

where on the oly pen are you located i am in the big city of Forks its good to have another smoker from the northwest around if you got any question just ask there are a lot of people here who want to help out

First off nette welcome to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. I think you should look up the E-course, it's free and very informative and it will give you the basics of smoking. Then you should just run out and get something to smoke and if you have any questions just post them here and we will be happy to answer it for you. Then you need to learn the art of Qview thats what we call pictures and yu post them here so we can see what your smoking and what your smoking on. S run go get something to smoke.
