Hi, my name is Anthony from NJ and I bought myself an ECB to get started and to see if I like smoking. I love BBQ and I figured I would give it a try. Any pointers for a newbie?

Welcome to the SMF!!! You have found the greatest place around for good Q!! Check out the 5 day ecourse to get started... its full of great info... its FREE!! and it only takes a couple minutes a day!! When ya have questions feel free to ask away!!! Lots of great experienced folks here waitin to answer them!! Enjoy your new family!!!

Hi and welcome to the home!

No worries on the "ECB" it is a fine unit for doing what we want to do, which is learning how to grill/smoke and most importantly eat! I am a proud owner of an ECB smoke n' pit with modifications (in progress as well) and I have no need to go out and drop a bundle on the mega-unit of choice. Please do not forget that the bottom line is good food (the way YOU like it) and good times for you and yours. The cooking unit is a secondary priority.

As you learn- as I did here and have nothing but GREAT things to say about ALL the folks I have read posts about- you can decide what it is you want to doand what will work for you.

Ain't that great?!~

Welcome home.......

Welcome to the forum. It's a great place with alot of knowledgeable people here. Enjoy it.
May all your smokes be thin and blue.
Andy.

Welcome Anthony. Think of your ECB as the first of many to come. Browse the posts often and take ideas and try them. Most of all, have fun. Lots of experience and knowledge around here to draw from.

Hey Anthony, welcome to this awesome site! Don't feel like you've handicapped yourself by starting with and ECB. You'll find a bazillion ECB users in here that turn out some outstanding Q. My best advice is do what I did - read as many posts on whatever you want to smoke as you can find in here. You can take it to the bank that if you want to do it, someone in here already has, and will be more than willing to share with you what it took to make it great! Then mix and match recipes and techniques till you find your own groove!

Follow the leads you find here. It may takes several smokes to learn your smoker but you'll get it where you like it. Keep at it, enjoy the fun.

Welcome Anthony. I am also from Vineland. I see you on the fishing forum also. The people here are great, and the info you get is just awsome. I got my first smoker last October and have only smoked a couple of times but these people make it alot easyer.
