Hi All

I just found this site yesterday and have done a lot of reading. I'm glad I found it I think there is a ton of good tips and pointers to be had. I use to smoke quite a bit but back in 2008 got a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in my lung)  tried eating smoked meat in 09 and couldn't handle it so the Dr told me to give it another year or so and then try it again. So I just got my smoker uncovered and dusted off and thought I would make some pulled pork and ribs for the in-laws for the 4th. I sure hope it goes good because I miss eating all the good stuff. Anyway just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi. Don't be surprised if I ask for tips with some things. Hope everybody has a great and safe 4th and a smoker full of good meat.

John

Welcome to SMF,

Don't know why a PE would affect your eating smoke  but give it another try.

Hope ya can do it now.

Hey eman

I was told it was beacuse the clot damaged my lung. I have a 15% lung infarction (dead tissue I was told)  and the Dr said it's something to do with the bark or outer crust of the meat. But my lung is still in the same condition as last year but I have to try it.

Thanks!

John

First off welcome John to SMF. You'll like it here for there is alot of good info and methods to be learned from the good that are here. Now I'm glad you found this place and I hope that the food works for you this time for I can't image not being able to eat some good ole smoked goodies. But then we do some weird stuff to stay healthy too. I'm glad you are here and can't wait to see some of your Q.
