  1. My name is Aaron, and I joined here to get some better knowledge on techniques and products for grilling and smoking.

I have been using a $30 grill from Walmart for the past 5 years, it worked ok, but I needed to upgrade. My girlfriend got me a barrel type grill with an offset firebox for smoking about a month ago for my birthday. I love it, but dont really know much about smoking meats.

Its great to be here and I am ready to learn everything I can from ya'll.

  7. I am sure I will have some questions tomorrow. I tried smoking some ribs a couple of weeks ago. It was windy and I figured out the thermometer that came with the grill is worthless. The ribs turned out ok, but I was more stressed about getting the smoker up to 225 than anything because . I see grilling/smoking as a stress releiver, that experience was anything but.

I am going to the store tonight to get some more ribs and a thermometer I can place in the grill for a more accurate reading. I am also going to try some of the modifications I have read about on here. I am sure this time around will be much better.

What kind of Offset smoker did you get? I have a CharGriller Smokin' Pro and it turns out some good BBQ. Sounds to me like you're off to good start! Look forward to seein' some Q-view.
  12. Its a BBQ Pro barrel smoker with offset firebox.

    Here is a link.....

I know there are probably better ones out there but it seemed like the best one for under $200.

I will definitely take some pics of my quest for tomorrow
